I’ve made my living by being versatile, adapting my skills to meet my employer’s needs; my usefulness tends to rapidly outgrow my job description. It’s what makes me a perfect fit in an environment that is simultaneously technical and creative: I can wrap my mind around a challenge, break it into its logical parts, and then raid the technology toolbox I’ve been assembling for the last 14 years as I go to work on each of them.
You’ll see in my resume that I’ve done a variety of work — designing newspaper pages, creating dense technical manuals, executing web designs, estimating complex projects, developing web applications and implementing systems to streamline production work. The common thread through it all has been my knack for identifying opportunities to solve problems with technology, my habit of listening to the voice that says, there has to be a better way.
